KOCHI: The Kochi Police have registered a fraud case against acclaimed music director Shan Rahman in connection with a musical event held in Kochi earlier this year. The case follows a complaint filed by the owner of the event management company responsible for organizing the event. Shan Rahman, who sought anticipatory bail, has been instructed by the district court to appear before the investigating team but has not yet complied.
The dispute stems from a music event called Uyire, held on January 23 in Kochi, which was organized by Rahman's music band, Eternal Ray Productions. The event's management was handled by Arora, an event management company based in Kochi. The company reportedly spent a total of Rs 34 lakh covering expenses for production, accommodation, food, travel, parking, and even payments for bouncers. However, according to Arora’s owner, Niju Raj, his company did not receive any payment in return.
In his complaint, Niju accuses Shan of threatening him when he demanded the payment, claiming that Shan threatened to frame him in a false case. The Ernakulam South Police have taken up the matter, and aside from the financial dispute, Shan is also facing charges related to flying a drone in a restricted area and causing traffic disruptions during the event.
